Cinder by Marissa Meyer Review

I know, I know!  How far behind am I?!
But, I FINALLY picked up Cinder by Marissa Meyer! And I'm hooked on the series now!  I have already downloaded the second book in this Lunar Chronicles series, Scarlet!  Going to MAKE myself do a little studying for midterms before I start reading though! haha

So...down the the nitty gritty review...

3.6 stars - This books was slow starting for me. Fairly young. Though, I did really enjoy Cinder's sarcasm and her playful side throughout even though her story isn't a happy one. However, about two thirds of the way through it kicked into high gear and has me very much wanting to read the next book in the series. The ending was pretty good and I am excited to find out how other retellings will intertwine with this sci-fi Cinderella story! Had this story been quicker in the beginning, it would have easily warranted a higher rating.  Something tells me this series is going to get better as it goes on!!! Recommend!

"Everything I Never Told You" Review!

"Everything I Never Told You"-Celeste Ng

Hey guys!  I finished up Everything I Never Told You last week and I'm so glad I did!  This is a debut novel from author Celeste Ng.  This is a contemporary family drama/mystery.  It is completely outside my wheelhouse, but I picked it up because it was getting a bit of buzz on some of my favorite book podcasts.

This book had so much contained into one story.  It centers on an interracial couple and their three children set in the 1970s in Ohio.  This is the story of how their middle child, and most beloved, Lydia winds up dead...or is it?

Everything I Never Told You will wind you through the mystery of how Lydia ended up dead.  However, it will also tell a tale of being a fish out of water in a small town.  There is incredible heartbreak all through this novel.  There were no tears on my end, but it certainly made me grateful that I never have to be an awkward teenager ever again.  It also made me want to hug with mother!

This isn't my normal, everyday novel, but it was very beautiful and well worth the read!  I would give this book a 3.25/5 stars.  It is different from my normal tastes, but a really wonderful story!

I don't want to give away any spoilers.  But, if you are looking for something new to read, pick up Everything I Never Told You, by Celeste Ng and tell me how you liked it.

Check out this book on Good Reads!
